The
Masks of Bali (see
About Masks) are very special and you will find many excellent examples
here. There are theatrical masks from the Topeng, Wayang Wong, Calonarang
and Barong dramas – several of these are older masks and are of particular
interest to collectors since it is increasingly more difficult to find good
examples. You will also find superb traditional masks.
You thought horses,
pigs, and frogs couldn’t fly? Wrong! You will find them all here in
Flying
Figures, together with mythological characters, mermaids and more…
Garudas has many
superb examples of artisans’ depictions of the giant bird god from Hindu
mythology (see About Garuda). The items here range in size and complexity,
but all are magnificent.
In
Mirrors, you will
find frames with ornate, detailed, contoured, and hand-painted ‘themes’. You
will also find some amusing designs, just great for kids.
In
Creatures, you
will find carved animals, birds, fishes, and mythical beings. Some are
crafted replicas of ‘real’ creatures, some are figments of vivid
imaginations, and some are well, just downright strange…
Fruits & Plants are
just that – platters of exotic tropical fruits, banana trees and corn
plants, for example…
In
Specialties,
you will typically find rather unique pieces, which could range from
particularly elaborate masks, to woodcarvings commissioned and created by
Balinese artisans, to …. Well, look for yourself!
The
types of items you might find in
Odds & Ends will vary from time to time.
Typically, you might find carved jewelry, napkin rings, coasters, cocktail
sticks, and rather amusing characters. At the time of writing, we are also
offering models of Balinese outrigger boats in this section.
